Description

Seller's Description:
100 years .22 “long” caliber bullet in 1971 J. Stevens .22 Model 71. The .22 Long is the second oldest of the surviving rimfire cartridges, dating back to 1871, when it was loaded with a 29 grain bullet and 5 grains of black powder, 25% more than the .22 Short it was based on. Savage Arms Company was organized in 1894 by Arthur Savage in Utica, New York. In 1920, Savage purchased J. Stevens Arms. Savage produced this Model 71 "Stevens Favorite". Serial number 07200SF . 10,000 of these were made in Westfield in 1971, facsimiles of the 19th century single shot Stevens Favorite. A non take down model with gold plating on the hammer, the front sight, the under-lever and rear sights elevator. The front site blade is missing. The dovetail front site base is there which is the main part of the front site the tiny blade that sits in the base is what is missing. A portrait medallion commemorating Joshua Stevens “Father of 22 Hunting” with a gold plated bust profile set into the straight-wrist butt on the right side. A decorative "Stevens Favorite" logo was etched into both case colored receiver sides and a short curved-belly for-end was fitted beneath the barrel. serial number 07200 SF, 20.5" All octagonal barrel, top of barrel stamped Model 71 Savage Westfield, Mass, U.S.A. 22 Short, Long or Long Rifle. Condition: Blued barrel, Gun is as new. Looks to be un fired. Gun retains most all original finish. Excellent bore. Excellent working order. All markings are clear. This is a super condition rifle. If you collect Single Shot Boys Rifles this would be a really nice addition to any collection. The camera flash makes the gold plate look silver or worn it is neither all are very gold color.
