NOTE #2 - Get this only if nothing else is available, + you are not convenient to an old fashioned have-everything hardware store. Listing this as a service, definitely not a money-maker time wise... Extra long full threaded NOT PLATED older round head steel machine screws for mounting the Trapdoor Springfield 45-70 rifle + carbine rear sights, + 30-40 Krag rifle + carbine rear sights. All Trapdoor Springfield + Krag barrels have the same sight screw hole threads, so these similar thread screws can be adaptable to other Models. ALSO CAN FIT ALL US 50-70s + Civil War Muskets, + Krags. If 50-70, or Musket, you only need one, but I have to sell these in pairs. You will have one left over as a spare.( I now have an original wide head Civil War Musket + 50-70 sight screw now listed for 4.95 + .99 S+H.) As I have no short sight screws, this extra long one has to be cut back as a substitute. EASY TO ADAPT - First, turn down the too-wide head, + then cut shorter to correct length. Plenty of extra length to easily hold in a vise while you cut. Measure depth of sight screw hole with a tooth pick before cutting. "Measure twice, cut once". I have several of these long substitute sight screws, + will list them TWO AT A TIME. Well worth having a few of these on hand, if you handle Trapdoors + Krags, for future use. They require some easy work, but are good when nothing else is available. It seems no one is still selling the rare originals today. At least it is now possible for you to get the sight on the barrel. And, older mild steel, no rust anywhere, still clean, long dry storage. NO PLATING to remove as seen on today`s commercial screws. Easy to cold-blue, or heat-blue over your kitchen stove.
