If it had a lanyard it could be a 1901 or another year military model. What I do believe
Is that it is the civilian model of one of these Colts. There are no military markings.

The mechanics are splendid. The cylinder spring unlock/lock tab have the same number 7872
As does the crane the crane assembly both sides. The RAC of the inspector all the serial number
On the butt below the middle bar serial 157 xxx. The receiver has retained most of the blueing probably 60+% the rest such as the barrel, the half penny front site and much of the small crane assembly have a wonderful rustic brown smoothed by years of handling. In the pictures you will find a tiny chip midway bottom on the left walnut handle and just a tiny bit of roughness do to easily controlled start of a tiny bit of rust on the bottom of the trigger guard The inside of the cylinder and the barrel are awesome. I have never seen so bright bullet chambers and the lands and groves of the right hand bore are the best I have seen in a gun half it’s age. It is known that the Models 1892, 1894, 1895, 1896, 1901, 1903 were all variations of the 1892.
