Seller's Description:

Rare Japanese Murata 32 ga. Single Shot Shotgun

This auction is for a rare Japanese Murata Single Shot Shotgun, 32 gage (bore diameter .526”). Murata single shot shotguns are similar in design to the Murata Type 13 rifle and in fact some Murata single shot shotguns were made by modifying Murata Type 13 rifles. We note that the barrel of this shotgun has grooves in the underside of the barrel about where the barrel bands would be on the full stocked Type 13 Murata rifle. Even though the stock on this shotgun looks like the stocks of the commercial sporting Murata single shot shotguns the butt plate does not quite match the stock at the top (see photo). We have no data other than our observations as to whether this Murata shotgun was created from a Murata Type 13 rifle. The action operates correctly and is in good condition. The metal finish is dark and there is evidence of some surface rust light pitting and some deeper pits on the receiver and barrel where metal meets the stock. There is a repair (braze or weld) on the barrel in front of the rear sight (see photos). The bore has some pitted areas as well. The stock checkering is a bit different that the checkering observed on a known commercial Murata single shot shotgun. The wrist of this stock has been broken and repaired (see photos). The barrel is ~34 1.2” long, the OAL is ~52” and the LOP is ~13 ¼”. For more information on Murata shotguns see: http://members.shaw.ca/tju/muratashotgunpix.htm

RESERVE AUCTIONS:

We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.

We are GOLDEN BEAR SERVICES, INC., a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer in the Denver Metro area. We market exclusively on Auction Arms (since 02-23-1999) and our feedback exceeds 1000 with no negatives. We list on our auctions a variety of offerings including firearms, ammunition, reloading tools & supplies and other accessories we pick up from clients who are interested in liquidating their firearms collections. We are also stocking dealers for a variety of “Mil Spec” manufacturers (such as Rock River & STAG) of quality AR15 & AR10 firearms and accessories including Uppers, Lowers, Parts Kits, barrels, stocks, mags, complete firearms and anything else we think you might be interested in. We are also a Davidson’s Gold Dealer and we have New hand guns and rifles listed at auction.
