Markings: The top barrel Flat is stamped “Euro Arms Brescia – Made In Italy”. The left side flat is marked “.44 Cal New Model Army”. The right barrel flat is marked, “For Black Powder Only.” The heel of the grip frame is stamped with the serial number, 017047.

Barrel Length: 8”

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a custom-fitted blade front sight, and a grooved-top strap rear sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are varnished wood, showing minor use, with just a few handling marks. The grips rate in about very good overall condition.

Type of Finish: The finish is blue steel, with a brass trigger guard and case-hardened trigger and hammer.

Finish Originality: Original.

Bore Condition: The bore is clean and the rifling is sharp. There is no apparent erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 80% of its metal finish. There is wear on the leading edges of the muzzle, barrel flats, and cylinder. There is a bit of frosting on the cylinder, which is barely visible in the photos. There is some tarnish on the brass trigger frame. The Screw heads show use, and are in good serviceable condition. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about very good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, but we have not fired it.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This gun comes in a handsome, black, flap over cavalry style holster. The holster is marked “Hecho En Mexico REYES”, and “7 ½”. The Holster is in good used condition, there are no tears or losses. There is some creasing on the flap hinge. The leather is soft.

Our Assessment: The 1858 new Model Army Remington was a direct competitor to the Colt 1851 Navy and 1860 Army Models. Favored by many for the stronger frame design, and far easier cylinder dismounting mechanism, The Remington is an excellent cap & ball design, perfect for Civil War re-enactors, competition shooters, or just black powder aficionados. The Remington is a good shooter, and will make a very happy owner of the lucky winning bidder!

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun can be transferred in California and is classified as an antique and can be sold to anyone 18 years of age with valid ID.<

Your gun will be shipped within 1 week of receipt of payment, usually the next day and you will receive an automatic notification with a tracking number upon shipment, to let you know that we have received funds. If you are in Southern California, you are welcome to pick the gun up and complete the transfer at our shop in Simi Valley (M-F, 8-5).

This gun can only be shipped to a verified adult, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. Please include a copy of your driver’s license with payment; this is for proof of age. We are FFL dealers and comply with all Federal, State and local laws.

Full payment on non-layaway items is required within 14 days. We accept Cashiers Checks, Money Orders, Cash and Personal Checks. No Credit Cards or electronic payments are accepted.

CA Sales tax applies to CA buyers (7.25%).

Layaways are offered on all items, requiring a 20% non refundable down payment within 7 days of the auction’s close and the balance within 60 days. We do not require prior notice to utilize the layaway. No returns are accepted on layaway items and the item will be considered abandoned after 60 days.

If you win an item and are not willing or able to complete the sale, you will be liable for 5% of the sale price.

Returns (less shipping) are accepted within 3 days of when the item is delivered with signature confirmation. Returns are very costly for both the buyer and for us, so please ask all of your questions before bidding and please be sure you can legally purchase this item.
