Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked "Trooper MK III / * 357 Magnum Ctg. *". The Rampant Colt is on the left side of the frame. The right side of the barrel is marked "Colt's PT. FA. Mfg. Co. Hartford. Conn. U.S.A.". The arbor is marked "L36121", as is the frame under the arbor.

Barrel Length: 6”

Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with a fixed (pinned) ramp front sight on a rib and a winage and elevation adjustable rear sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are checkered rubber, finger groove grips. The grips show some wear and marking throughout, but remain sound. Overall, the grips rate in about Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The rifling is sharp and bright with just a bit of fouling. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 93% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows surface wear and losses. There is muzzle wear on both sides of the barrel. There are light surface scratches at "Trooper", on the left side of the frame, just behind the barrel and on the left side of the frame, at the cliinder latch. There is a mild drag line on the cylinder. The Screw heads are sharp, but showing light turning. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly both single and double action. We have not fired this revolver.

Our Assessment: 'In 1969, an entirely new product line of revolvers dubbed the MK III series debuted. Intended to be the first major advancement of Colt’s designs since the beginning of the 20th century, the MK III series used a new ‘J’ frame and had no parts interchangeability with older models. The new revolvers were considered groundbreaking as they were the first modern revolver designs to employ a state of the art transfer-bar lockwork system. This lockwork was not only more sophisticated, but inherently safer due to its superiority to the older hammer-blocking designs; the revolver could fire only if the trigger was deliberately pulled completely to the rear. It also vastly improved on the earlier design in durability, and offered the advantage of employing sintered iron internal parts rather than expensive forged ones. The sintered parts also allowed for improved fabrication tolerances, and could be given a special heat treatment resulting in a harder more wear-resistant composition. Using these parts virtually eliminated hand fitting, significantly lowering labor costs associated with the assembly and manufacture of the MK III line. (R.K. Campbell. CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This revolver is not on the California "roster of certified for sale handguns", and can only be sold in California as a Privcate Party Transfer (PPT) at our shop in Simi Valley. This does not apply to out of state buyers.

Your item will be shipped within 1 week of receipt of good funds, usually the next day. You will receive an automatic notification with a tracking number upon shipment, to let you know that we have received funds. If you are in Southern California, you are welcome to pick your item up and complete the transfer at our shop in Simi Valley (M-F, 8-5).

This gun can only be shipped to an FFL, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. If you would like to be notified when we receive your payment, please obtain a tracking number from your carrier. We receive about 40 checks a day and do not have the staff required to email everyone when we receive checks.

Payment:

Full payment on non-layaway items is required within 14 days. We accept Cashiers Checks, Money Orders, Cash and Personal Checks. No Credit Cards or electronic payments are accepted. To help us properly apply your payment, please indicate what item you have purchased when payment and/or FFL are sent. If you would like to be notified when we receive your payment, please obtain a tracking number from your carrier. We receive about 40 checks a day and do not have the staff required to email everyone when we receive checks.

CA Sales tax applies to CA buyers (7.25%).

Layaways are offered on all items, requiring a 20% non refundable down payment within 7 days of the auction’s close and the balance within 60 days. We do not require prior notice to place an item on the layaway. No returns are accepted on layaway items and the item will be considered abandoned after 60 days.

Successful Bidder Instructions:

You will be invoiced by the morning following the sale. This invoice will include totals for the sale and all instructions.

If you win an item and are not willing or able to complete the sale, you will be liable for 5% of the sale price.

Returns (less shipping) are accepted within 3 days of when the item is delivered with signature confirmation. Returns are very costly for both the buyer and for us, so please ask all of your questions before bidding and please be sure you can legally purchase this item.
