Winchester Model 1886, Cal. 45-90. Serial number 6475, manufactured in 1887. 26 inch octagon barrel with circle P parts proof mark behind standard WP proof mark with bright shiny bore with marking "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN, U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 14 1884. JAN. 20. 1885". Barrel is not original to this gun. Full length magazine tube. Plain trigger. Sporting front sight with replacement buck horn rear sight. Stock & forearm of plain walnut with crescent steel rifle butt. CONDITION: Full restoration with 98% restored blue & case colors. Stock and forearm have been heavily yet evenly sanded during restoration so that some metal edges are slightly proud of wood especially along top tang. Stock has wedge shaped repair at left side of top wrist that is fitted expertly but has a little color variation from the rest of the stock. Sound mechanics. Ammunition and reloading supplies are readily available for this firearm.
