Seller's Description:
Up for bid is a pre-Civil War (1840s–1850s) SxS percussion double-barrel pistol in .60-caliber. Eight-inch double barrels with wood ramrod. Dark bores. Overall length approximately 14-inches. Checkered wood grip. Finely assembled. This gun is in overall good condition showing an even brown patina on metal surfaces. Wood stock is overall good showing wear, old mars and an old repair to a crack on the right fore end area. Clear lock maker name on right and left lockplates (Henry Elwell of Birmingham , England [1838–1856]). Gun maker unknown. Good tight actions; however, hammer bolt on right side of lock is broken (see photos), and will require repair by an expert gunsmith. A old replacement screw holds the hammer in place. Antique, so no FFL required. Bidder please know your own state gun laws, and whether it’s legal to purchase in home state. Sorry, no sales to New Jersey or New York. Please remit payment within seven days of auction. Will accept personal check, but will not ship until check clears bank.
