Rare old original MAINSPRING for US Model 1842 Civil War Musket. This is the rare MAINSPRING, not the whole musket. Also fits US MODEL 1816, with very slight nearly un-notice able modification. And, can be fitted to some foreign muskets. If you specify for US Model 1816, in your payment letter, not email, I will clearly explain the easy modification, or do the work for you, so you don`t have to, at no extra charge. As time permits. Anyway, this 100% old + original US 1842 MAINSPRING was made 1843-1855, at Springfield or Harpers Ferry Armory. Very little used, Good to Very Good condition. Solid, strong + very use-able today for US Models 1842, 1816, + some foreign muskets. Good to have some on hand if you handle US or foreign muskets.
