Seller's Description:

The Winchester Model 74 semi-automatic was introduced in the 1939/40 time frame and discontinued in 1955 (~406,574 were produced). It was chambered for the .22 cal. long rifle cartridge and there was also a .22 cal. short gallery version. The Model 74 featured a tubular magazine in the butt stock and contrary to the data in the Standard Catalog of Firearms the barrel length is 22” not 24”. The design concept behind this rifle was for quick and easy removal of the bolt for ease of cleaning or repair. It is distinguishable by the squared off rear receiver (the bolt is removed directly from the rear). The stock was plain walnut, oil finished, pistol grip with a semi-beavertail forend.

This model 74 was made in 1952, SR # 302159A. The dark walnut stock is in very good condition with no cracks and just a few use marks. A leather military style sling is included (see photos). We cleaned the stock with Liquid Gold and it looks great. The LOP is 13 ½”. There are some dings in the receiver near the bolt handle and a couple on the left side of the barrel near the front sight (see photos). The metal finish is at least 98% with the trigger guard showing the most wear. We removed the bolt and thoroughly cleaned it and the rest of the gun including the bore. The action is tight and functions great and the bore is bright with very excellent rifling. This is a very nice rifle in NRA Fine condition and would be a great shooter.

Attention Bidders: A word about our auctions………………we do not disclose our Reserve on a “RESERVE AUCTION.” The reason is simple, disclosing the Reserve defeats the purpose of the Reserve auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale,” for that bidder not an auction, much like a Basic Auction on Auction Arms where the minimum selling price is listed for all bidders to see. We prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 40% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In the Reserve auction you are not necessarily bidding to hit the reserve but to be the high bidder. That is when the Haggle begins. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process click on: Help & Info Often the Reserve is the price the Seller would like to get but is not necessarily the minimum price the Seller may be willing to accept. We hope this explains why we don’t disclose.
