Seller's Description:

NO RESERVE!! Here's a rare one that would certainly fall into the "oddball" category. This is a Dardick Model 1500. These were manufactured in very limited numbers in the late 1950's and very early 1960's. This is serial number 1052 (the serial numbers started at 1000) and it is estimated that fewer than 200 were ever manufactured. What makes this rare handgun unique is not only the method of operation, but the type of ammunition it uses as well. I guess it can be sort of described as a "semi-automatic revolver". It uses a unique plastic cased triangular cartridge called a "tround". The heart of the gun is a rotating cylinder with three triangular recesses cut into its' perimeter. There is a spring loaded magazine in the grip of the pistol that holds up to 15 trounds. When the trigger is pulled, the cylinder rotates and picks up a tround from the magazine, then rotates to alignment with the barrel where it is discharged, and then finally past an ejection port where the spent tround simply falls out. There is no "chamber" in the normal sense as the plastic case of the tround is only supported on two sides. The plastic case itself contains the pressure of the exploding cartridge. It is chambered for the equivalent of the .38 Special and, with adapter trounds, .22 Long Rifle can be fired with the help of the spare .22 caliber barrel. Operating system aside, one thing is for sure, this is one homely looking piece of ordnance!

This example is in cosmetically excellent condition with about 98% original finish remaining. It seems to function OK most of the time however there is a hitch in the trigger mechanism somewhere and the cylinder does not always rotate smoothly. Also, there is some mechanical issue with the loading port cover. When the release latch is pushed down, the cover will only open about half way. There is a projection on the inside of the lever that is hanging up on the magazine follower. By reaching in with a pinky finger or small tool and depressing the follower, the loading port cover is freed up to open fully. These might be easily repaired issues and it appears that Numerich Arms (Gun Parts Corp) has many parts on hand as they bought out Dardick's inventory many years ago. Dardick Parts The bores in both the .38 and .22 caliber barrels are excellent. Comes with an original box, with both barrels, one spent tround case, and the original fold out brochure. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping. Although it should be listed as a C&R, I cannot find any mention of the Dardick pistols on ATF's Curio & Relics list.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: Modern firearms must be transferred through a licensed FFL dealer in your area. Bidder to supply a signed copy of local dealer’s license before shipment will be made. A C&R License is acceptable for C&R firearms only (guns determined to be C&R’s by ATF and guns known to be at least 50 years old). I still ship to California but the buyer must supply me with their FFL's CFD# in addition to the Federal License. California law will NOT allow shipment of C&R HANDGUNS direct to a C&R holder in the State of California, a 01 dealer must be used. I can only ship LONG GUNS directly to a California C&R holder. Please call the California Dept. of Justice/Firearms Bureau @ (916)263-4887 for further clarification. Antique firearms require bidder to supply proof of age. Some areas still require an FFL transfer for antique & black powder firearms (New Jersey, NYC, etc.)
Large capacity magazine restrictions: New Jersey - 15 round maximum for semi-automatic firearms only. California - 10 round maximum for all magazines. Maryland - 20 round maximum for all magazines. Massachusetts - over 10 rounds Hawaii - 10 round maximum for all handgun magazines.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: Postal Money Orders and Cashier's Checks ship fastest; Personal and business checks are gladly accepted but will delay shipping 2 weeks for clearance (I know the good ones clear faster, but the bank is sometimes slow in notification of a returned check).

Credit Card payments cannot be accepted over the telephone as a signature authorization is required to charge your card (for those in a rush, it can be faxed). For more info, please go to their website and follow the links: user agreement / acceptable use / firearms, weapons and knives policy. If you use them for a gun transaction and they find out, they will close your account & freeze your money for 6 months. How do I know? They did it to me! I WILL NOT SUPPORT AN ANTI-GUN COMPANY!!
