Seller's Description:This firearm can only be sent to an FFL or C&R holder. An adult signature will be required upon delivery of this firearm.
This is a Inglis MK I* Hi-Power 9mm pistol made in Canada and imported by CJA SFLD Mi. The right-side of the barrel, slide and frame is serial numbered 5CH4698 which puts it's manufacture dates between August and October of 1945. Since this pistol was originally produced to be sent to China it was allocated with the distinctive "CH" letters in the beginning of the serial number. The left-side of the slide is stamped "MK. I* Browning FN 9MM HP INGLIS CANADA". The right-side of the frame is also proof marked.
The gun has standard target sights with a 5" barrel. The bore is bright and shinny with good rifling. The rear sight is a tangent type with markings from 50 to 500 meters. The front sight is dovetailed in place. The grips are in good condition with good checkering and a few marks. The pistol has the correct MK II hammer installed as indicated by the Roman numeral "II" stamp on the left side of the hammer. This hammer modification was made on February 20, 1945 and included a new hammer, a change in the geometry of the hammer strut attachment and dimensions of the hammer strut spring. The ejector and extractor on this pistol has also been marked on the left hand side with the Roman numeral "II" stamp which is correct for the MK I* pistol design. The MK 2 ejector had an increased height of 0.020 over its predecessor which was to provide for more positive shell ejection. The MK 2 extractor was modified to ensure that the thrust was taken by the slide and not the plate locking.
The gun has machining marks typically found on firearms from this era. There is some pitting on the frame and slide. The finish is parkerized with visible wear on the edges of the firearm. The bottom of the frame and front and rear of the grip have turned patina. The back of the grip frame has a milled slot to accept a butt stock,(not present with the firearm) and the lanyard loop is missing(see photos). This firearm come with one magazine, the front of the magazine as well as the baseplate has been stamped with the initials "JI" which indicate John Inglis. Also with the firearm is a black leather FN marked thumb break right handed hip holster.
Overall this gun is in very good condition mechanically and good in appearance. Serial #5CH4698. STK. #16292.
